This book lists the untold miseries faced by the Scheduled Tribes of Tamil Nadu, starting with the ‘identity problem’, ‘habitat problem’, ‘problem in obtaining forest rights’, ‘slavery’, ‘nutrition deficiency’, ‘lack of medical facilities’, ‘problem in obtaining community certification’, ‘problem in being identified in educational learning and teaching’, ‘problem in obtaining employment’, and so on. Currently, on the one hand, they are subjected to international socio-political pressures including ‘economic liberalization’ and ‘globalization’, and on the other hand, they are subjected to socio-cultural pressures and socio-economic pressures, and are pushed to the margins.
